DEAR YOUNGER ME- Immane Shiphrah (official video clip)

The Institute for Experimental Arts Records is delighted to welcome poet and spoken word artist Immane Shiphrah to our catalogue and community.

Her debut release, the spoken word video Dear Younger Me, is a moving reflection on self-discovery, individuality, and resilience. Addressing her younger self with tenderness and strength, Shiphrah speaks to the universal struggles of growing up in a world that demands conformity while silencing doubt. This is a confession to herself. Through this powerfull poem and captivating spoken word performance, she offers not only guidance but defiance— an intimate act of empowerment that urges the next generation to embrace their uniqueness, learn from failure, and believe unapologetically in their own voice.

In Dear Younger Me, Immane Shiphrah emerges as a vital new public voice for India’s youth, blending poetic wisdom with the urgency of now.

Dear Younger Me is the first single from her upcoming LP. Soon will be announced her live performances in India and other countries, produced by the Institute for Experimental Arts.

Born in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, India, and currently based in Bangalore, Immane Shiphrah brings a richly layered voice to contemporary spoken word. Now pursuing a Master’s in Creative Writing at Alliance University, she merges academic rigor with lyrical vulnerability to explore themes of alienation, resilience, and identity.

A published poet with three volumes to her name—Scars, The Loudest Silence, and Of What If’s and Maybe’s— Shiphrah’s work has resonated both nationally and internationally, earning awards such as the Limited Edition 21st Century Emily Dickinson Award and the Golden Book Award. Her poetry has been translated into French, Japanese, and Korean, and longlisted for the Wingword Prize in consecutive years. With accolades from platforms such as the Kolkata Literary Carnival and recognition among India’s top young poets, she stands at the intersection of performance and scholarship, expression and inquiry.

Whether through verse, research, or voice, Shiphrah remains committed to reclaiming silence and creating spaces where truth—however uncomfortable—can rise. Her work represents the fearless voice of India’s new generation, courageously confronting corruption, inequality, caste discrimination, and gender violence through the transformative power of spoken word poetry.

In a country where young people face mounting challenges—from economic disparity and environmental degradation to social media censorship and the erosion of democratic freedoms— Shiphrah stands among a growing movement of artist-activists who refuse to be silenced. Her poetry becomes an act of resistance, transforming personal pain into collective awakening, individual struggle into universal solidarity.

Through her unflinching exploration of contemporary Indian realities, Shiphrah embodies the spirit of a generation that demands change, speaking truth to power with the ancient wisdom of Tamil poetry and the urgent necessity of now. Her voice carries the hopes and defiance of millions who believe that art can still move mountains, that words can still topple walls, and that courage can still change the world.
