My poem, “The Summer it Rained” is a unique depiction of one’s journey of finding home and what that experience translates to. It carries with it tangible euphoric nostalgia described by the trees, leaves, color, memories of youth, familiar people, friends, and family. This poem is about the connection between oneself and their surroundings of nature and the good people and places that come with it. This is for people who often seek a place of peace and happiness. It also reminds us that real connections never change and they are forever contant. My personal connection to this poem is where I grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The memories of growing up around simple elements that brought me peace and joy. Also, the diverse cultures I was surrounded by helped shape who I am today as a person. This poem also is my thank you letter for all the beautiful moments in my life that come from home. You can learn a lot about a person from where they grew up and how they were raised by the village of friends, family, and kind strangers. Furthermore, this poem expresses my gratitude for all those gifts my home had to offer.

He enjoys being near his family and friends, and loves the unique culture where he grew up. He first began his journey as a writer and poet in Boston, MA.
