Eros – Destin Judy & Henry Plant – USA

Destin Judy

Destin Judy was raised in the charming small town of Georgetown, Kentucky by inspiring parents in a humble home. She trained as a competitive figure skater starting at age 5, and during a bout of teenage depression, began a lifelong adoration for Edgar Allen Poe. This creative nature eventually landed her in Los Angeles. After studying marketing and international business at the University of Kentucky and serving a 6-year enlistment in the KY Air Force National Guard to help pay for school, which included active duty service during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Destin established her career in Los Angeles as a public relations director for an array of brands and nonprofits over the last decade. Having enjoyed writing for inspiring clients, she discovered her ultimate passion at home: writing for herself.

The Fatum poetry collection sprouted from Destin’s home journal-based writing from the lense of various relationships in connection to the most intimate relationship of all: her growing connection to herself as a 37 year old woman, still seeking higher meaning, in exploration of internal dialogue, while residing in disparate Downtown LA. She began writing poetry upon waking up one Tuesday morning in the late winter of 2019, with a sudden insistence to pen her past heart-memories, and feelings forward. Upon convincing her partner Henry Plant to photograph a version of the visions she sees when she writes, the Fatum book was born with imagery captured across the region during COVID-19. The dual works complement one another in mood, metaphor and theme, to envelop abandonment and loss, spirituality and hope, autonomous female empowerment, and the ultimate supreme growth of self / self-love. Destin continues to journal-write daily, enjoys creative writing classes under the direction of Kim Young, and seeks to explore and sharpen her newfound literary acumen – or simply, soul-speak.

Henry Plant

Henry Plant, with a birth name of Robert Plant VI, was born and raised in the artistic seaside town of Laguna Beach, California. The son of parents in the Architectural industry, he was encouraged to be creative at a young age by attending the alternative learning elementary school CLC. A single computer arts class inspired him to pursue a higher education in the arts, and ultimately, a lifelong creative career. Henry attended the University of California Santa Cruz where he graduated in 2007 with dual degrees in Fine Art & the History of Visual Culture. During his time in art studios he gravitated towards the emerging field of Digital Arts and New Media where he used sensors, computers, and programming to create sculptures. He eventually rose to the top of his class and won the prestigious William Hyde Irwin and Susan Benteen Irwin Scholarship. This led to him exhibiting work at the Mary Porter Sesnon Art Gallery and the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History.

Growing tired of sleepy beach towns, he moved to Downtown Los Angeles to explore life in the city.  In Los Angeles, Henry utilized his skills in design and programming to become a flash Developer.  After many years, he transitioned to become a UI Designer in the Video Game Industry to better serve his creative abilities. From there he progressed into the entertainment industry where he worked a long stint as an Art Director creating websites and digital experiences for over 53 films and home websites for 4 major film studios – some of which are still in use today. Needing a change of pace from the entertainment industry, Henry transitioned to a Creative Director role in the tech industry where he thrives today.
